Students will work collaboratively to complete the finished product. Each member of the group will have a particular role within the group. Each group will research facts pertaining to water conservation and the reuse of water. The groups will work together to create and present a powerpoint presentation regarding water conservation. The groups will also be held liable for any advertisement or marketing within their community.
Students are required to work together in order to complete the presentation and advertisements. The teacher will act as a facilitator to the groups. The students are responsible on researching and deciding on the important facts concerning water conservation. Students must rely on their groups for gathering facts, research and any data which may or may not be collected. The teacher will serve as the facilitator but it’s up to the groups to work together. The groups determine what is necessary to validate the need for water conservation and go through the information which effectively describes and demonstrates water conservation.
Students will work in flexible groups consisting of 3-4 students. Each groups will include a high-performing student, 2 grade level performers and a possible low performing student. They will be heterogenously mixed. Each member will bring ideas to the group and be given a task so everyone is involved in the completion of the project.
Students will use microsoft Powerpoint to present ideas to solve given problems. They will be able to access Webspiration to create graphic organizers as well as creating or gathering other modalities of graphic organizers. They will have access to Microsoft Publisher and even the school’s RAM TV in order to advertise and market.
At the conclusion of the project, each student will complete an evaluation pertaining to their group. Each member will be scored/evaluated according to the given rubric. These rubrics will also assist the teacher with the participation portion of the final rubric. Each students’ participation will be determined by the evaluations, daily journal entries, and created graphic organizers and concept maps. The students will view the team member’s evaluation once the groups’ final grade has been determined. Within the group, the students will discuss their evaluations completed by the members of their group.
